A dog photo session isn't just about taking pictures - it is about creating an experience that celebrates your dog's personality and the love you share. As a boutique dog photography, I want you to feel fully prepared and excited every step of the way. Here's what you can expect before, during, and after your session.
Preparation: Setting the Stage
Consultation and Planning
Before your session, we will connect to talk about your dog, your vision, and the type of images you'd love to display in your home. Whether it is playful action shots, soulful portraits, or a mix of both, this step helps me design a session that feels personal to you.
Guides to Help You Feel Confident
To make everything effortless, you will receive two exclusive guides:
Location Guide - a curated list of stunning spots perfect for dog photography, so you can choose a backdrop that matches your style.
What-to-Wear Guide - helpful tips if you'd like to join your dog in the images, making sure your outfit complements the colors, mood, and setting of your session.
Getting Your Dog Ready
A good walk before the session helps release extra energy. Also, a light meal or snack is helpful because it ensures your dog isn't too hungry or too full. Bring favorite toys, treats, or even a beloved blanket for comfort. And do not worry if your dog isn't perfectly trained - I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve to capture natural expressions and those fleeting, magical moments.
The Session: A Fun Adventure
Every session is designed to be relaxed and enjoyable for both dogs and humans. My role is to create an environment where your dog feels safe, engaged, and free to be themselves.
What Happens During the Session
We will spend the first few minutes letting your dog get comfortable with me and my camera.
I will guide you through simple poses or activities while also following your dog's lead.
Expect laughter, treats, and lots of movement - I am aften rolling in the grass, running, or crouching to capture your dog's best angle.
Sessions usually last between 60-90 minutes, with plenty of breaks to keep your dog happy and stress-free.
After the Session: Turning Moments into Art
Image Reveal and Selection
About two weeks after your session, we will meet for your image reveal. This is where you will see a carefully curated gallery of your dog's best portraits. I will guide you through the selection process, so you feel confident about choosing your favorites.
Boutique Artwork and Products
This is where the magic comes full circle- your images transformed into fine art pieces. From handcrafted wall art to story-telling albums, I will help you select the perfect products to fit your style and home. Each piece is created with longevity in mind, so your dog's story can be cherished for years to come.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if my dog doesn't behave?
No problem at all! Most of my clients say this before their session, and yet, every dog ends up with a gorgeous gallery. I work with dogs of all temperaments - shy, wiggly, high-energy, or stubborn. My sessions are built around patience, play, and working at your dog's pace.
Can I be in the photos too?
Absolutely! Many clients love having a few portraits with their dogs. My "What-to-Wear" Guide will help you feel confident about stepping in front of the camera, and I will guide you through natural interaction that capture your bond beautifully.
What if the weather doesn't cooperate?
If it's pouring rain or the conditions aren't right, we will reschedule for a better day at no extra cost. Cloudy skies actually create some of the most flattering light, so don't worry if the sun isn't out.
How should I prepare my dog?
A light walk before the session, their favorite treats, and a toy or two are usually all that's needed. Most importantly - don't stress! Your dog will feed off your energy, so come ready to enjoy the adventure.
Do you only photograph dogs?
Dogs are my specialty, but if you would love to include the whole family (furry or human), we can absolutely make that happen.
Final Thoughts
A dog Photography session is more than a photo shoot - it is a way to honor the bond you share with your best friend. My goal is for you to walk away not just with beautiful images, but with memories of a joyful day together.
DOGS MAKE THE MEMORIES, I MAKE THEM LAST,
